The Bearded Tit (Panurus biarmicus) is a small bird with a long tail that is mainly found in large reedbeds where it feeds on insects and reed seeds. It builds its nest low down among the reeds, often on piles of dead reed stems. Bearded Tits can be heard calling with a nasal 'ting' or 'ping' sound as they fly. Also known as the Bearded Reedling.

The Great Tit (Parus Major) deals with large food items, such as large seeds or prey, by "hold-hammering", where the item is held with both feet and then struck with the bill until it is ready to eat.

A garden with four or five Blue Tits (Cyanistes caeruleus) at a feeder at any one time may be feeding 20 or more. Like all birds, Blue Tits can see ultra-violet light – the front of their head glows brightly under UV light.
