Terns are graceful, slender summer-visiting seabirds in the UK known as "sea-swallows". Five main species breed in or visit British shores annually from April to September: the Common Tern, Arctic Tern, Sandwich Tern, Little Tern, and the rare Roseate Tern. They feed by hovering and plunge-diving for small fish.
