Fallow Deer (Dama dama) are native to Asia and were introduced into the UK by humans. For a long time, it was believed they were brought here by the Normans, but new evidence published in 2024 revealed that they have been here even longer. They were first introduced by the Romans, but this population only appeared to survive for a few hundred years.
